Welcome to Tourug, Uganda’s premium safari app (“we,” “our,” or “us”). Your privacy is important to us. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile or Web apps (the “App”). Please read this privacy policy carefully. By using the App, you consent to the data practices described in this policy, which are in compliance with our obligations and your rights under Uganda’s Data Protection and Privacy Act, 2019 and Regulations.

Definitions and Interpretation

In this Privacy Policy the following terms shall have the following meaning;

“Account” means an account required to access and/or use certain functionalities of our App;

“Cookie” means a small text file placed on your computer or end-user device by the App when you visit certain pages of our App and/or when you use certain functionalities of our web app. Details of the Cookies used by Our Site are set out later below;

“App” means our web application at https://tourug.com and/or the Tourug smartphone application downloadable from the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store.

This Policy applies to your use of our mobile and/or web apps. Note that we have no control over how your personal data is collected, stored, and/or used by other websites that link to our apps. We recommend that you check the privacy policies of any such websites or apps before providing your personal data to them.

Security

We take reasonable measures to protect your information from unauthorized access, use, or disclosure. However, no security system is completely impenetrable. Therefore, we cannot completely guarantee the security of your information held by us.

Children’s Privacy

The App is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected such information, we will take steps to delete it.

How Long We Keep Your Personal Data

We store data until it is no longer necessary to provide our services or until your account is deleted -whichever comes first. This is a case-by-case determination that depends on things like the nature of the data, why it is collected and processed, and relevant legal or operational retention needs in accordance with the law.

How and Where We Store or Transfer Your Personal Data

We will only store or transfer your personal data to countries that have adequate data protection standards/laws or where you have consented to the processing or storing of personal data outside Uganda. We may in certain instances such as for analytics purposes or for other reasons specified earlier share your data with external third parties, that may be based out of your jurisdiction. In any such case, we shall ensure any such data is transferred securely and following best practice in your jurisdiction.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by updating the “Last Updated” date at the top of this policy. We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically to stay informed about how we are protecting your information.
