Introduction

Welcome to Tourag, East Africa’s number one safari app (“we,” “our,” or “us”). Your privacy is important to us.

This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile or web apps (the “App”). Please read it carefully.

By using the App, you consent to the data practices described in this policy, which comply with our obligations and your rights under Uganda’s Data Protection and Privacy Act, 2019 and Regulations.

Definitions and interpretation

In this Privacy Policy, the following terms have these meanings:

Account
An account required to access and/or use certain functionalities of our App.
Cookie
A small text file placed on your computer or end-user device by the App when you visit certain pages or use certain functionalities of our web app.
App
Our web application at tourug.com and/or the Tourag smartphone application downloadable from the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store.

This policy applies to your use of our mobile and/or web apps. We have no control over how other websites that link to our apps collect, store, or use your personal data. Check the privacy policies of any such websites or apps before giving them your personal data.

Information we collect

We may collect and store the following information about you.

Personal information

Contact informationName, email address, phone number, and other contact details.
Account informationUsername, password, and other information related to your account.

Usage data

App interactionPages visited, features used, and actions performed in the App.
Device informationDevice type, operating system, and unique device identifiers.
Location dataPrecise or approximate location from your device, only if you grant us permission.

Payment information

Transaction detailsWhen you buy through the App, we collect the payment details needed to process the transaction. Payment information is stored by our payment processor, not on our servers.

How we use your information

Provide and improve our servicesPersonalize your experience, respond to your inquiries, and improve how the App works.
Process transactionsFacilitate purchases and other transactions made through the App.
Communicate with youSend updates, promotional materials, and other information about the App and our other services and products.

Third parties whose content appears on our web or mobile app may use third-party cookies. Learn how to control cookies in your browser or device settings. We do not control these third parties or the data they collect, so check their privacy policies.

Security

We take reasonable measures to protect your information from unauthorized access, use, or disclosure. No security system is completely impenetrable, so we cannot fully guarantee the security of the information we hold.

Children’s privacy

The App is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have, we will take steps to delete it.

How long we keep your personal data

We store data until it is no longer necessary to provide our services or until your account is deleted, whichever comes first. We decide case by case, based on the nature of the data, why it is collected and processed, and legal or operational retention needs under the law.

How and where we store or transfer your personal data

We only store or transfer your personal data to countries with adequate data protection standards or laws, or where you have consented to processing or storage outside Uganda.

In some cases, such as analytics or the other purposes described above, we may share your data with external third parties based outside your jurisdiction. We will make sure such data is transferred securely and follows best practice in your jurisdiction.

Changes to this privacy policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of changes by updating the “Last Updated” date at the top. Please review it periodically to stay informed about how we protect your information.
